Social Sign In - Background
Creating our own James Joyces Pub & Restaurant Social Network was a conscious strategic decision. Our idea behind our network is to provide a better service and relationship with our clients and friends than can be offered by placing ourselves exclusively on the large public social networks such as Facebook, MySpace and others.
One of the advantages that we have in creating our own
social network is a much closer and real relationship with our clients and friends. Facebook is still far too impersonal for us at Joyces and I am convinced that many of the people listed as our fans may never have physically entered our doors.
However, we are also very
aware that facebook and similar networks can be beneficial for us in meeting new friends and attracting new customers. So today we have added a new feature which will allow our current members and new members the ability to sign-in or sign up to www.joyces.ro using their facebook, google or yahoo account.
How it Works
First-time visitors to Joyce's no longer need to provide an email address and choose a password to sign up for a our Social Network. Instead, they can simply use an existing Facebook, Google, or Yahoo! account — and complete the registration flow in a couple of clicks. Their name and email address will be automatically populated in the sign-up form. Better yet, if they sign up with their Facebook account, their birthdate, gender, and profile photo will also be automatically filled out during the sign-up process.
Returning members will find that signing into Joyce's has now become incredibly simple. All it takes is one click. Members would need to type in their username and password. On the Sign-Up / Sign-In box, members can also see which accounts are supported. If a signed-out member clicks on the icon of the service they initially chose to join with, they’ll be signed in right away — no extra steps or clicks needed.
In saying all this, the feature is new, not 100% tested so if you have any comments or findings please let us know.
